Patrick graduated from the University of Florida in 1981 with a B.S. Degree in Agricultural Production. After relocating to Tucson in 1981, he farmed Jojoba and table grapes in Pinal County
In 1985, he took a job in Fresno, California, becoming an award-winning agricultural journalist and farm broadcaster.
In 2019 he and his wife Laurie relocated to Marana where he continues his daily broadcasting work, focusing on western tree nut production in Arizona and California.
Patrick volunteers with Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society, an organization dedicated to rescuing thousands of saguaros, barrels, ocotillos, and other species on pristine Sonoran Desert land before the construction of home and business developments.
In 2022, he ran for Marana Town Council, and though unsuccessful, his platform continues as a founding member of the Living Desert Alliance.
